Data Lens is seeking a hands-on Tableau administrator for part-time support work. This is a contract position best suited for a consultant who can serve in a part-time support role capacity.

Responsibilities:

  • Tableau Server Installation and Configuration:
    • Install, configure, and maintain Tableau Server infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
    • Collaborate with IT and other teams to integrate Tableau Server with existing systems and applications.
  • User and Security Management:
    • Administer user access and permissions on Tableau Server, ensuring proper authentication and authorization controls.
    • Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
    • Monitor Tableau Server performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
    • Conduct regular performance tuning to enhance overall system efficiency.
  • Backup and Recovery:
    • Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures to safeguard Tableau Server data and configurations.
    • Test and validate backup and recovery processes regularly to ensure data integrity.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
    • Respond to and resolve Tableau Server-related issues promptly.
    • Collaborate with technical support and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems.
  • Patch Management:
    • Manage Tableau Server software updates and patches, ensuring the system is up to date with the latest features and security enhancements.
  • Capacity Planning:
    • Conduct capacity planning to anticipate future growth and resource requirements.
    • Propose and implement scalability solutions as needed.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of Tableau Server configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Provide training and documentation to end-users as needed.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Tableau Server Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Tableau Server architecture, configuration, and best practices.
  • Experience in user management, security implementation, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with data backup and recovery processes.
  • Solid understanding of networking and server infrastructure.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Tableau Server certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Snowflake is also a plus.
